Good Morning, Trinity Members!

Below are the announcements and verses for this week!

Announcements (Week of May 10)

Ascension Worship Service

"Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." Join us for Ascension worship service, this Thursday, May 13th at 6:30pm in the sanctuary at our downtown campus!

Special Voters’ Meeting Monday May 17

There are three items on the agenda. Trinity congregation will meet to consider calling an Associate Pastor on May 17. The Call Committee will recommend several pastors for the Voters to prayerfully consider calling. You will receive a list of names and biographical information for highly qualified men. The committee will share information from telephone and Zoom conversations with the candidates. There will be a Property Management resolution need to complete the current building project. There will also be an election for the Board of Elders. All members are invited, and voters are urged to attend at 6:30 pm at the school. We ask everyone to continue praying that the Lord’s will be done.

Church Office Personnel Updates

Please join us in welcoming our new full-time church secretary, Jill Peddycoart! Jill's first day in the office will be tomorrow, May 12th, and her work schedule will be 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Over the past few years, God has blessed us by providing church secretaries with diverse talents and skills, each stepping into the role and lending expertise that fit perfectly for that season. As always, God's timing is perfect, and we are so thankful!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cheyenne Bluett! Cheyenne joined the office staff in the months leading up to the pandemic and played a crucial role in Trinity's ability to navigate the move into online worship. Her tech knowledge, willing spirit, and cheery personality were incredible blessings during challenging times!

When Cheyenne announced that she would be leaving to pursue other opportunities, we were blessed to welcome Lori Correa into the role of part-time church secretary. Lori has been a wonderful addition to our team and has helped as we navigate a return to more normal operations. Lori has provided a steady presence in the office with a caring and conscientious spirit! We are delighted that Lori will remain with us for a period of time to assist with Jill's training and help with the transition.

Teacher Appreciation

Last week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week at the school. Trinity Lutheran School is blessed with a wonderful faculty and we are so thankful for the love and dedication of our Trinity teachers! Parents, along with our PTL, recognized and thanked our teachers with flowers, cards, treats, and gifts.

A note from Trinity's faculty and staff:

The Trinity faculty and staff would like to thank the families and PTL for all of your thoughtfulness during teacher appreciation week. We are so thankful for the marvelous meals, terrific treats, and gracious gifts. We are truly blessed to be part of the Trinity family. Thank you!

Uniform Trade-In Events

Plans are underway for our first annual Trinity Uniform Trade-In Event! If your child has outgrown any uniform items, you are invited to donate them to the school so they can be passed on to other Trinity Lutheran School families.

We will begin accepting gently used uniform items (t-shirts, polos, sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, skirts, and jumpers) on Monday, May 10th. Uniform receptacles will be marked and placed at both the school and the church campuses. We ask that all donated items be in clean condition and free of any rips, holes, or stains.

The first two trade-in events are scheduled for July 10th and July 24th, before and after Saturday evening worship services (5:00-5:30pm and 6:30-7:00pm.) Families will have the opportunity to take items at no cost, but will be encouraged to take only what they need. An easy gauge will be to take a similar number of items to what you donated, if possible.

Additional trade-in events will be scheduled later in the summer, leading up to the start of the school year.

Summer Employment Opportunity

If you know of anyone seeking a fun summer job, please direct them to reach out to us! Trinity is seeking qualified and energetic candidates to serve teacher aides for this year's summer camp. This is a great opportunity for high school and college students, or adults who love working with children! Please visit to complete our employment application or call 217-787-2323 for more information.

8th Grade Confirmation Service

The Rite of Public Confirmation will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 2:00pm in the sanctuary at our downtown campus. 8th grade confirmands will receive their first Communion as a part of this service. In place of the questioning service, confirmands will instead write a testimony of their faith. In future years this testimony will be read during worship services. Due to the ongoing COVID circumstances this year, the confirmands’ testimonies will be shared with the Board of Elders.

At this time, each confirmand will be allowed to have 6 (six) guests attend the service. There is a possibility that there will be different restrictions in place by the date of the event and that might increase the number of guests allowed to attend. Like last year, the confirmands will not wear robes for this service.

2021 Clothing Drive Cancellation

Given the uncertainty of a complete re-opening and crowd sizes in facilities, we have opted to cancel this year's clothing giveaway event. If you have clothes that you would like to donate, many area social service agencies are accepting donations (Goodwill, Washington Street Mission, Kumler Ministries on North Grand, Salvation Army, etc.) We suggest you call before dropping off items.

School Enrollment Update: It has been an exciting enrollment season at Trinity Lutheran School, with high levels of re-enrollment among our current families and a great deal of interest from new families! As we near the end of April, we already have 189 students (Early Childhood - 8th Grade) enrolled for the 2021-2022 school year. What an incredible blessing to have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with these students and families!

Here is a link to our updated enrollment video, highlighting some of the attributes that make Trinity so special and featuring precious moments from this unique school year:

If you know a family that is looking for a wonderful, Christian education for their child, please share our latest enrollment video with them and encourage them to contact our Enrollment Coordinator, Heather Daniel ( for more information.

Tuesday Morning Bible Class Returns: Tuesday Morning Bible Class has resumed. This group will meet on Tuesdays at 10:00am.  Due to COVID related facility restrictions, we will meet at the Church Campus in the new addition lobby.

Trinity Facility Use Update: Out of care for our neighbors and to comply with state and local rules, we have limited use of Trinity’s facilities throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. To continue this effort and ensure fairness in our approach, we will continue to limit use of Trinity’s facilities to gatherings that are either worship related (church services, Bible class, and Red Letter Challenge gatherings), operational (leadership boards, voters meetings), or school functions. Additionally, worship related meetings may not use the school campus during the school day.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility. Our leadership team will be reviewing this policy again after the end of the school year.
